Photo taken at a marino sheep station in the south island of New Zealand.  Marino sheep are hand shorn because their skin is so loose and wrinkled.

But as you see hand sheering can still lead to the sheep getting cut, and believe it or not, this isn't as bad as what happens when you machine sheer the sheep.
